Meet the Editor-in-Chief
Sanjay Sharma
MD, MSc (Epid), MBA
Dr. Sanjay Sharma is a professor of Ophthalmology at Queen’s University and an internationally recognized retina specialist. He has published over 300 research papers (H-index = 56) in areas including macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy and has received national and international awards, including those from the Canadian Institutes for Health Research, the Canadian Foundation for Innovation and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
He is a pioneer in digital medical education, having created MEDSKL – an platform that now reaches medical students from 500+ universities and Optocase – one of North America’s largest medical education platforms for optometrists. Dr. Sharma is also the founder of the Macula Clinic – a fast-growing chain of medical clinics developed to provide specialist retinal care to elderly patients so that they do not have to travel to urban centres.
Dr. Sharma completed fellowships in retina at Queen’s University, Wills Eye Hospital and Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary.
